KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian citizens applying for their Malaysian International Passport (PMA) faced a slight setback as the immigration department faced a technical glitch.
In a statement around 10am yesterday, the Department of Immigration posted a notice on social media informing applicants that there was a disruption in the application system.
“The Malaysian Department of Immigration would like to inform the public that the PMA application service is experiencing technical issues.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and are doing our best to get the system back to normal operation,” the statement read on their official page.
Many netizens kept up to date with the status of the issue, with some sharing that immigration offices in their regions have resumed operations, while others shared that they are still waiting for the issue to be resolved.
A netizen named Nick Tay said he arrived at the immigration office at 6:30 a.m. in order to be on time for his appointment.
“I left work to be there, but the system is down.
“I have been informed that I may have to come back tomorrow morning but I can no longer return to work.
“The problem is that if I have to make an appointment, I will be given a date after my scheduled flight to Singapore.
“That means I would be wasting my time and my trip,” he said.
Some netizens helped each other out by updating the comments section with information about branches that were still offline.
At 5 p.m. yesterday, many were still commenting that the system was down despite the ministry announcing on social media that the system was working from 1 p.m.
