Senior Project Fresh will be made available to residents of Midland

The Midland County Emergency Food Pantry is distributing Senior Project Fresh coupons to the Midland Area Farmers Market and Senior Services this month.

Coupons will be available from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on June 14 and 16 at the Senior Services Trailside Activity and Dining Center as well as from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 18 at the Midland Area Farmers Market.

Senior Project Fresh, part of the United States Department of Agriculture Farm Bill, is a program for seniors, helping them incorporate more fresh fruits and vegetables into their diets. Senior Project Fresh was created to benefit seniors with limited incomes and a secondary benefit to farmers in Michigan.


Recipients will receive a booklet containing five coupons worth $5 each for the purchase of fresh fruits, vegetables, honey and herbs.

To be eligible, a person must meet the following conditions:

  • Age – Recipients must be 60 years of age or older, or 55 years of age and a member of a Michigan federally recognized tribe or urban tribal group.
  • Residence – Recipients must live in the county where coupons are distributed.
  • Income — The beneficiary’s income must be at or below 185% of the federal poverty level.
