Bhubaneswar: The government of Odisha is committed to strengthening the Panchayati Raj system, so that the benefits of development reach the poorest of the poor, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said today.

Addressing the orientation program for the newly recruited Deputy Executive Engineers of the Drinking Water and Drinking Water Department of Panchayati Raj, the chief minister said that rural housing and drinking water supply are the two flagship programs of the state government.

No less than 210 Assistant Executive Engineers have joined the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water department today. This is the first group of a new group of engineers created at the Ministry.

Patnaik further stated that the state government is committed to converting all kutcha houses to pucca houses within a specified time frame. Likewise, a target was also sent to provide piped water to all rural households by 2024.

Therefore, the government is providing more manpower at the gram panchayat level, Patnaik said.

“The state government has focused on expanding rural infrastructure. Thus, the creation of a new engineering framework is indicative of our orientation towards it, ”he added.

The Chief Minister advised the newly recruited engineers to put all their energy and knowledge to be part of the transformation currently taking place in Odisha.

He urged new hires to follow and imbibe government 5-T mantras in their day-to-day assignment. Emphasizing the principles of state governance, he said that “the people are at the heart of our government. We must serve them with dignity and professionalism ”.

Minister Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Town Planning, Housing and Law Pratap Jena addressed the orientation program and advised them to work for the welfare of the people of Odisha.

Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra, Secretary to Chief Minister (5-T) VK Pandian and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
