Moodle Academy expands Moodle Developer program with new Web Output Essentials course

Moodle Academy launched the second course of the Moodle Developer Basics program! The new Web Output Essentials course builds on the knowledge gained in the Set up your Moodle development environment course launched last month. This is the second course in a series of six which will become the Moodle Developer Basics program and is designed to introduce participants to the types of plugins in Moodle.

the The Essentials of Web Release course, developed by Rajneel Totaram, will help PHP developers learn how to use Moodle’s Page and Output APIs to render content in a local plugin and introduce them to localization using language strings. The estimated learning time is around 2 hours. Although not compulsory, it is recommended that participants take the first course of the Moodle Development Program, Set up your Moodle development environment, before Web Output Essentials. The Moodle development environment introduces developers to the Moodle development environment, source code management, code review tools and plugins.

Through the Moodle Developer Basics program, developers can take one course at a time, knowing that they are working towards a full learning program for which they can earn a certificate of completion.

The remaining four follow-up courses in the program will cover Moodle’s modular architecture and APIs; Access to Moodle and security essentials; test configuration and upgrades; and accessible development practices. This program will replace the Moodle Plugin Development Basics course on Learn Moodle.

These two new courses are free, self-paced and participants can register at any time.
