Greengage Travel and Event Solutions has announced the launch of the ECOsmart Hotels and Venues directory, which will showcase properties across the UK that “demonstrate an eco-friendly approach”.
The program is designed to make it easier for event planners and business travelers looking for greener meeting or accommodation options.
Andrew Perolls, CEO of Greengage Travel and Event Solutions, said: “While Covid-19 has absolutely dominated the corporate agenda in 2020, there is evidence that with a vaccine-enabled end in sight, companies will put more emphasis on sustainability in business recovery. , including sustainable travel and event solutions ”.
A Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) survey found that over 70% of travel managers believe it is “important to empower travelers to make sustainable travel choices.”
Greengage’s ECOsmart program aims to meet the demand for greener solutions by helping hotels and venues develop an environmentally responsible approach and recognize achievements through the ECOsmart accreditation process. Successful properties receive awards at Bronze to Platinum levels and are featured in the new ECOsmart online directory. In addition to location information, images and mapping of the sustainability qualities of each property are highlighted to provide a first-rate representation of the ecological features on offer.
Perolls commented on the launch: “Greengage is committed to supporting the trend towards greater sustainability in travel and events. We want to help give hotels and sites a green competitive advantage, ready for when the market starts to rebound ”.
The first phase of the ECOsmart rollout focuses primarily on environmentally friendly independent hotels, aparthotels and meeting venues, with other independent properties and sustainability-focused hotel chains being added to the network in the coming weeks. Greengage also works alongside meeting and event agency partners to promote the green agenda.
