Full Stack Developer Intern – Hypepotamus

Are you a skilled digital craftsman supporting HTML/CSS, Javascript and PHP?

Do you like getting lost in array/object caves and finding the best information architecture for different data types?

Have you ever started a debate about the best way to organize a web build repository?

If so, this course is for you and we would love your help.

Here’s the scoop:

Vert is a growing agency that supports a variety of client business goals through a world-class digital strategy. Week after week, we research, plan, create, execute, optimize and analyze campaigns across dozens of different channels.

As a Full Stack Development Intern at Vert, you’ll work directly with our development team – while also collaborating with many other teams – to bring to life the interactive things we create for our clients.

Our ideal candidate is not only eager to learn, but also has an eye for interactive design and scalable software. Vert’s developers play a critical role in bridging the gray areas between UX design, visual design, and engineering to ensure the finished product is beautiful, usable, and engaging.

Our ideal intern candidate will:

  • Has a working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript and PHP – enough to create a PSD mockup from scratch (no templates)
  • Have experience with JavaScript frameworks (React or Angular)
  • Have experience with API integrations/documentation – push/fetch from 3rd party APIs
  • Ability to think creatively AND analytically
  • Know how to balance several projects at the same time
  • Be proactive and eager to learn
  • Be a team player, with the ability to work independently
  • Be passionate about mobile and digital technology
  • To ask questions! The ability to communicate effectively is essential

Main responsibilities:

  • Assist the web development team in daily tasks and projects
Develop a knowledge base on front-end and back-end development in HTML5, CSS/SASS, JavaScript and PHP
  • Front-end and back-end development for WordPress-based web builds
  • Development of email templates
  • Translate design files into accurate front-end code while considering customizable and scalable approaches
  • Prompt and complete completion of assigned tasks, including use of Green project management and organizational systems
  • Participate in brainstorming to actively contribute ideas that can be executed by Green on behalf of clients

Bonus points for having:

  • Experience in MySQL and/or WordPress development (double points for knowledge of the ACF plugin)
  • Experience in server management (AWS, WPEngine)
  • Basic knowledge of server-side performance, availability, security, domain creation and redirects
  • A working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Experience with CSS preprocessors (SASS or LESS)
  • Messaging development experience
  • Familiarity with the command line

In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of effective cross-agency collaboration, understand what it takes to plan, strategize and execute a successful group project, and explore many different facets of digital marketing.

This is a part-time paid position (15-25 hours per week). Green is adopting a hybrid work model, so some work will be done remotely and some from our Atlanta office.
