EIU Report: Duffuor’s ‘Ahotor Project’ Novel Fantastic for NDC – Kobby Mensah | Policy

Political communications lecturer Dr Kobby Mensah described Dr Kwabena Duffuor’s ‘Project Ahotor’ as a fantastic new party gesture.

According to him, political parties need such projects to strengthen their financial capacities at the base.

Speaking to Francis Abban in the Morning Starr on Tuesday, the political communications expert said the NDC needed to work out the terms of the project undertaken by the former Central Bank governor.

“The Ahotor project model is fantastic and awesome, but we need clearer guidance on how things are actually going with the project. NDC leaders need to define the terms and who benefits,” he said. he declares.

Meanwhile, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) predicted that the Democratic National Congress would have a better chance of winning the 2024 election if led by a new candidate.

The EIU, however, notes that it is aware that former President John Mahama, who unsuccessfully led the NDC in 2016 and 2020, is aiming to run again.

“The next parliamentary and presidential elections are scheduled for 2024. Under constitutional term limits, incumbent President Akufo-Addo cannot run for a third term. Former President John Mahama is reportedly considering running again, but we expect the opposition NDC to try to revitalize their prospects with a new candidate,” the EIU’s latest report reads.

He added: “Our baseline forecast is that persistent public dissatisfaction with slow progress in governance improvements, such as infrastructure development, job creation and corruption mitigation, will trigger anti-corruption factors. incumbents and push the electorate to seek change. The NDC therefore has a reasonable chance of winning the 2024 elections.”

The development follows reports that the former Central Bank Governor, who is also a former finance minister, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, is lacing up his boot to enter the race for the opposition party flag bearer.
