Developer buys Beesley Cottages in Tahoe for resort

A California developer has made another acquisition of the coveted Tahoe lakefront property, expanding existing plans to build a new luxury casino resort.

EKN Development Group announced the purchase of Beesley Cottages in Tahoe Vista this month. The land is slated to be transformed into “The Beach Club,” which will serve as a wedding venue and house other amenities to serve lake access, such as the provision of beach cabanas and rental of the resort’s private boats.

In October 2021, the developer purchased the historic 75-year-old Tahoe Biltmore Lodge & Casino for $ 56.8 million, according to Washoe County records. Between the two locations, the company plans to build a new casino and a 120-room hotel, in addition to retail space and 80 condominiums, a representative told the San Francisco Chronicle in December. (SFGATE and the San Francisco Chronicle are both owned by Hearst but operate independently of each other.)

As part of the project, the promoter also plans to build new roads around the site. A press release regarding the purchase said a shuttle service will be offered to the new beach clubhouse for resort guests to minimize traffic to and from the waterfront.

“The Beach Club accentuates the resort’s extraordinary location by bringing the guest experience to the lake,” said Ebbie K. Nakhjavani, President and CEO of EKN Development Group, in a statement. “Our appreciation for Lake Tahoe and the communities along the north coast will contribute to a thoughtful implementation of the project. We are extremely happy to see this unique project come to life. “

EKN’s portfolio includes shopping centers and hotels in Nevada and California.
