Currently, the country has 2,543 projects with 462,132 rooms under construction, with projects expected to begin construction in the next 12 months out of 417 projects with 78,990 rooms. Early planning stage projects and rooms reached record highs in the third quarter, up 13% per project and 8% per room year-over-year to 644 projects/143,166 rooms. The scale of the high-end chain reached its peak of projects in the third quarter and accounts for 22% of projects and 28% of rooms in China’s hotel construction pipeline.

In the third quarter, 142 new projects with 27,508 rooms were announced in the Chinese pipeline. In the first three quarters of 2022, China opened 311 projects/49,582 rooms. LE forecast for new hotel openings expects another 248 projects to open with 32,524 rooms in Q4 2022, bringing projected new hotel openings to 559 projects/82,106 rooms by the end of the year. year. In 2023, LE analysts predict the opening of 708 new hotel projects, representing 110,744 rooms, and in 2024, LE predicts the opening of 846 new hotel projects/134,712 rooms nationwide.
