Avalue launches the BMX-T550, a barebones industrial control system designed for automation

Avalue Technology Inc. (TAIEX: 3479-TW), a global provider of industrial PC solutions and an associate member of the Intel® Internet of Things Solutions Alliance. As industrialization intensifies, the demand for computing performance and durability has become increasingly demanding. Avalue recently launched the BMX-T550 industrial-grade desktop barebone system. Compact and powerful, it meets strict industrial-grade inspection standards to ensure system stability and reliability. It is also highly expandable and customizable, and available in two specifications, i.e. with chassis and barebones system, making it a user-oriented, industrial-grade solution. Having a wide range of applications, the BMX-T550 can be used for large screen digital signage and high precision applications. When the video capture card is inserted into the expansion slot, it is suitable for use in medical image analysis and diagnosis; when EtherCAT is inserted, it increases production line efficiency and improves synchronous control. The BMX-T550 is also intended for machine automation, production line automation, machine vision, robotic arm, industrial equipment manufacturing and general industrial applications.

– Available in desktop chassis and barebone system, offers excellent scalability

Depending on the customer’s budget and assembly requirements, the BMX-T550 is available in two specifications, i.e. desktop chassis and barebone system. The desktop chassis supports Mini-ITX motherboard and suits end customers with build capability while the barebone system comes pre-built with H310 chipset, 8th/9th Gen Intel® Coffee Lake processor, Intel® UHD Graphics 610/630 and dual memory (maximum 64GB DDR4 2666) making it the perfect turnkey chassis solution. Other than these differences, the two are identical in their configurations. Their front I/O interface features an LED power button, LED data access indicator, and two USB 2.0 slots; and the rear storage device includes two 2.5-inch external hard drives and various tightly grouped I/O connectors. Highly flexible and expandable, the BMX-T550 is equipped with an I/O shield and a PCIe x 16 expansion slot, reserving more room for adjustment.

As the BMX-T550 supports the full-height PCIe x 16 expansion slot, the insertion of a video capture card facilitates the analysis and diagnosis of entry-level medical images, e.g. x-rays and cervical cancer or osteoporosis imaging. While most EtherCAT cards use a USB interface, Avalue’s PCIe interface dramatically improves EtherCAT performance. Combined with Avalue’s EtherCAT board, the BMX-T550 ensures the delivery of complete EtherCAT solutions with more efficient integration and better customization experience that specifically targets industrial automation.

– Complete customization services

In addition to providing a case-specific integrated planning and proposal service, and a fair and reasonable price offer, regarding the integrability and compatibility of specifications, such as processor and memory, Avalue also provides three types of customization service for the BMX-T550 industrial-grade barebone system, which aims to create unique solutions designed for smart factories. First of all, in terms of hardware, any addition or reduction of structure, replacement of I/O, change of com port to USB or change of logo is entirely customizable. In terms of software, Avalue can help install and integrate any hardware or software if the end customer has specific BIOS or image software requirements. Finally, in terms of production line customization, Avalue provides comprehensive and thoughtful services, whether it is specific testing process, manufacturing tools or customized certifications (e.g. power supply medical grade).

– High reliability and stability, complying with strict industrial standards

Since security and stability are imperative in the industrial control market, Avalue adopts the strictest design and production standard in quality requirements and industrial system testing process. The BMX-T550 industrial-grade expandable barebone system is highly stable and reliable, CE and FCC certified, and passed 10G impact test and 2G vibration test. It operates continuously even in harsh environments and has a lifespan of 7-10 years. Suitable for use in POS, transportation and interactive kiosks, it is ideal for precision industrial automation when integrated with EtherCAT.
