WINSTED — The American Mural Project recently received a $5,000 grant from Connecticut Humanities, to support participation in the CT Summer at the Museum initiative, according to a release. The program offers free admission for Connecticut children ages 18 and under and up to two accompanying adults from the same household, July 1 through September 5.
“Home to the world’s largest indoor collaborative work of art – a massive three-dimensional mural measuring 120 feet long and five stories high – AMP opened regular-hours in June 2022. The spectacular exhibit features a vivid compilation of sculptural vignettes depicting Americans at work – from heart surgeons to steel workers, firefighters to farmers, teachers to 747 airplane makers, and more. Constructed with unconventional materials including honeycomb aluminum panels, blown glass, clay, reclaimed wood, native indigo, and spackle, the mural offers optical journey and sensory adventure through the last 100 years of working in America,” the statement said.
