Construction works for an Agenda 111 Hospital project in Afransi, Central District of Gomoa, Central Region is progressing rapidly to meet the contract duration of 18 months.
Three contractor companies are currently working on the site to meet the growing health needs of residents of the central district of Gomoa and beyond.
The contractors are China State Haulong construction Ghana Limited, Mark Dons Construction Company Limited and Top Engineering Construction Company Limited.
Mr Ebenezer Arthur, foreman of one of the companies who spoke to reporters at the site, said the construction works were proceeding smoothly and quickly as planned thanks to the sufficient funds released by the government to meet the time limit.
He said the foundation works for the project were nearing completion and would continue at ground level to allow them to start the actual works to meet the 18-month term given to them by the government.
He said artisans such as masons, carpenters, steel burners, electricians and non-artisans who were mostly women in and around Gomoa Afransi, the district capital of Gomoa Central, are selling food and other items to improve economic activities.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the site, Mr. Benjamin Kojo Otoo, Director General of Gomoa Central District (DCE), said that when completed, the hospital will employ more nurses and paramedics.
The DCE said the hospital will cater for emergency referral cases which so far would have gone to Agona Swedru Municipal Government Hospital, Winneba Trauma Hospital and hospitals by Breman Asikuma.
He said plans have been completed by the Assembly to upgrade the Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) complexes of Gomoa Aboso and Gomoa Ekwamkrom to meet the growing need of the population for access to health care. quality health.
The DCE said the Gomoa Abonyin Polyclinic was nearing completion, adding that a doctor, nurses and paramedics would be assigned to the health facility to enable people to access quality health care.
